In-Depth Guide

Hey Deadlands RPG: Valhalla fellow players!

I made already a Begginers Guide, explaining how the game can be playable, also giving a few tips on how to start. But i was thinking... there should be one mid-endgame guide, so i decided to make this in-depth guide. Since this is going to be as much complete as i can... it wil lrequire some time to do. Meaning you will find this in construction for some days.

What kind of stuff can you expect to find in this guide? Well preety much everything, but ill try to resume the main stuff.

- Heroes (skills, gameplay pro's and con's) -> Almost done... need only to wait for dem to fix a few things to finish it.
- Item list and drop place (ill need Dem help with this cause i still haven't found all the items avaiable... and also can't store them all on inventory) -> Can't do it solo, and Dem is kinda busy with other priority stuff.
- Game story (i still dont know if i should copy/paste the sentences from cinematics or just to do one small resume) -> Done
- Quest lines (where to find the quest, what you need to do, suggested level to do it, etc) -> Done
- Bestiary (Monsters name, HP, damage, experience, money rewards) -> In construction.
- Boss fights strategies (skills they use, how to counter them, solo strategy, etc) -> In construction

I hope i can finish this guide in... 1 week maximum... but let's see how it goes Smile

EDIT: dreamhack summer championship begun so the guide its a bit late since im not playing at all... only watching the games...

Kimzark's In-depth Guide

- Heroes

- Protoss -
Race Special Ability: Blink - Teleport instantly to a location. 8 seconds cooldown

Ash Templar
Class Type: Healer
Primary Attribute: Intelect
Class Bonus: receives 25 extra intelect every 5 levels.

Abilities:
Recharge - Restores 500 Shield Points to a single target. Each level increases Healing amount and decreases cooldown.
Guardian Shield - Creates a shield with 4 range that increases the aura of friendly units. Lasts 15 seconds. Upgrading this ability increases armor bonus and decreases cooldown.
Plasma Surge - Small healing AoE which restores 750 Shield points. Each skill level increases 250 shield heal amount and decreases cooldown.
Summon Ash Archons - Summons 1 (?) big archon (i suggest Dem to look at this skill description before i add more info)
Psionic Storm - AoE Storm that deals great amount of damage to monsters. Each skill level decreases cooldown. Intelect ups damage.

Pros: this caracter can do 3in1... Heal, support and damage. If you have good gear and max level you can probably do wonders with this character.

Cons: Can heal Protoss units only. Also its low HP doesnt allow him to tank anything without the archon help.

Phase Zealot
Class Type: DPS
Primary Attribute: Strength
Class Bonus: Receive extra 25 strenght every 5 levels.

Abilities:
Crushing Grip - Enemies in a small area are stunned for 3 seconds (does not affect bosses) and deals 250 damage over time. Strength increases damage. Skill level also increases damage and reduces cooldown.
Consume Power - Lifeleech skill. Transforms half of the damage in shields for zealot. Strength increases damage. Skill level also increases damage and reduces cooldown.
Mirror Phase - Summons 3 illusions distracting the enemy for 10 seconds. Every skill level adds 500 extra shield to illusions and also decreases cooldown. Every 2 skill levels adds strength to illusions power. (NOTE: the illusions actually perform damage).
Crushing Vortex - Big AoE damage skill. Enemy units are "sucked" into the void for couple seconds (maybe 3 seconds not sure). DOES affect bosses. Skill level reduces cooldown. Strength increase damage.
Void Prision - Capture enemies making them immobile and dont let them attack. Does NOT affect bosses OR massive units. Each skill level increases the number of units captured and radius.

Pros: Really OPed DPS class. 4 high damage skills... 1 distracting units and bosses for 10 seconds (or less if they get all killed), 1 that restores your shield HP, 1 that stuns units and another that takes... all units out of the battlefield. (NOTE: this unit it's currently at v2.1 so OPed that i can solo hard dificulties killing all bosses including optional ones)

Cons: errm... the only con i can actually tell... its that after you play this one the others are BLEH xD

Force Knight
Class Type: Tank
Primary Attribute: Psi
Class Bonus: Receive extra 25 Psi every 5 levels.

Abilities:
Domination - Takes control of one unit. Skill upgrade decreases cooldown and increases domination time. OFC does NOT affect bosses.
Void Prision - Capture enemies making them immobile and dont let them attack. Does NOT affect bosses OR massive units. Each skill level increases the number of units captured and radius.
Shield Burst - Increases Shield by 300, Shield Regen by 175 and becomes invencible for 5 seconds. Upgrading this reduces cooldown, increases the amount of shield gain and the amount of shield regen.
Psionic Shockwave - Psionic explosion around hero. Damage the units, plus knocking them back and stunning them briefly. Every skill level upgrades damage and reduces cooldown. Strength also increases damage.
Psionic Overload - Releases a large amount of energy around hero damaging all unit in the radius area. Every skill level decreases cooldown. Strength increases damage. NOTE: unit become unmovable!

Pros: With the v2.1 patch this unit as became a better tank. Does decent damage.

Cons: Slow leveling due to lack of attacking skills (although this is what you would expect from a tank, but since i dont like slow leveling im putting this as a con).

Shadow Assassin
Class Type: DPS
Primary Attribute: Strength
Class Bonus: Receives extra 25 Strength every 5 levels.

Abilities:
Void Prision - Capture enemies making them immobile and dont let them attack. Does NOT affect bosses OR massive units. Each skill level increases the number of units captured and radius.
Cloak - Becomes invisible for short period of time. Each skill level increases cloak time for 1 seconds and reduces cooldown.
Shadow Frenzy - Increases 10% Attack Speed 10% Moviment Speed and increases Strength by 20 for 15 seconds. Each skill level reduces cooldown and increases all the stats.
Void Spheres - Throw void sphere at a target making small AoE damage. Strength increases damage. Each level reduces cooldown.
Plasma Blast - Single Target damage. Each skill level upgrades damage and reduces cooldown. Strength also increases damage.

Pros: Really good dps. Can smash units and bosses in seconds.

Cons: The skills takes a while to shoot, making him a bit slow while using them. Also he cant move after use the skill or it will reset.

- Terran -
Race Special Ability: Psitrous Boost - Increases Movement Speed by 4.5 for 3 seconds. 10 seconds cooldown.

Elite Ghost
Class Type: DPS
Primary attribute: Agility
Class Bonus: Receives extra 25 Aglity every 5 levels.

Abilities:
Cloak - Becomes invisible for short period of time. Each skill level increases cloak time for 1 seconds and reduces cooldown.
Snipe - Single unit damage skill. Each skill level increases damage and decreases cooldown. Agility also increases damage.
Ultrasonic Pulse - Stuns enemy units in a small area for short time. Each skill level increases number of stuned units and reduces cooldown. Does NOT affect Massive AND Boss units.
Nuclear Strike - BIG AoE skill. Nuke takes 3 seconds to strike. Each skill level increases damage and reduces cooldown. Agility also increases damage.
Cloacked Spider Mines - Drops burrowed spider mines. Each skill level increases number of mines dropped and reduces cooldown.

Pros - Really nice ranged DPS. Bang Bang BOOM units to their destruction while taking no damage at all if you're in a party.

Cons - Mines dont do that much damage, and nuke takes 3 seconds to strike, making its DPS lower than other DPS units.

Veteran Comando
Class Type: Tank
Primary Atribute: Stamina
Class bonus: Receives 25 extra Stamina every 5 levels.

Abilities
Defensive Matrix Field - Increases your maximum life, life regen and armor. Each skill level increases all these stats except regen and decreases cooldown.
Yamato Blaster - Single target skill. Each skill level increases damage and reduces cooldown. Agility increases damage.
Ultrasonic Pulse - Stuns enemy units in a small area for short time. Each skill level increases number of stuned units and reduces cooldown. Does NOT affect Massive AND Boss units.
Static Feedback - Reduces enemy energy to 0, dealing damage by the amount of energy enemy had. Each skill level decreases cooldown.
Dark Plasma Granade - Small AoE skill. Each skill upgrade increases damage and reduces cooldown. Intelect increases damage.

Pros: Probably the best tank of the game. I would suggest you pick this one unit to start playing the game since will be nearlly impossible to kill you with the defense matrix on.

Cons: Making his skills with damage upgrade based on Inteligence and Agility doesn't help making a good build to maximize your "low" DPS as a tank.

Advanced Marine
Class Type: DPS
Primary Attribute: Agility
Class Bonus: Receives extra 25 Agility every 5 levels.

Abilities:
Grenade - Small AoE Skill. Each skill upgrade increases damage and reduces cooldown. Agility increases damage.
EMP - Small AoE skill. (the description of this skill is wrong so i cant give much more info about it)
Chrono Rift - Small AoE skill. Slows movement and attack skill from enemies inside. Each skill upgrade reduces cooldown.
Experimental Plasma Rifle - Single Target skill. Each skill level increases damage and decreases cooldown. Agility increases damage.
Ultrasonick Pulse - Stuns enemy units in a small area for short time. Each skill level increases number of stuned units and reduces cooldown. Does NOT affect Massive AND Boss units.

Pros: Does DPS wonders while reducing bosses and other units attack speed.

Cons: I can't find any.

Medical Engineer
Class type: Healer
Primary Attribute: Intelect
Class Bonus: Receives 25 extra Intelect every 5 levels.

Abilities
Heal Beam - Single Target Heal. Each skill level increases healing amount and reduces cooldown
Healing Wave - Small healing AoE. Heals units around medic. Each skill level increases healing amount and reduces cooldown.
Immortal Turret - Spawns 1 turret. Each skill level increases turret HP and reduces cooldown.
Irradiate - Irradiate a single unit for 15 seconds. Deals damage to organic units. Each skill level reduces cooldown. Intelect increases damage.
Mini-Wraiths - Spawns wraiths for 15 seconds. Each skill level increases the number of wraiths.

Pros: Really good healer, which can almost spam healing to keep friends alive.

Cons: dont actually expect it to dps at all... also cant be choosed while friends play protoss since they use mostly shield.

- Zerg -
Race Special Ability: Mist Walk - Teleport instantly to a location. 8 seconds cooldown

Swarm Queen
Class Type: DPS
Primary Attribute: Strength
Class Bonus: Receive extra 25 Strength every 5 levels.

Abilities:
Dark Energy Blast - Single Target Skill. Each skill level increases damage and reduces cooldown. Strength increases damage.
Corrosive Burst - AoE skill around hero. Damage and knock back units. Each skill level reduces cooldown. Strength increases damage.
Razor Swarm - Big AoE skill. Each skill level reduces cooldown. Strength increases damage.
Bio Stasis - Capture enemies making them immobile and dont let them attack. Does NOT affect bosses OR massive units. Each skill level increases the number of units captured and radius.
Draining Parasite - Controls a single unit. During this time Queen's HP regen increases, but she cannot move or attack. Blows unit few seconds after not being controled. Each skill level reduces cooldown.

Pros: Nice survavility and razor swarm can dizimate milions (maybe not exactly milions.. but you get it).

Cons: Corrosive burst doesnt do that much damage. Also while controling units she cant do anything... meaning if she gets attacked HP regen will be useless (regens doesnt work while in combat). Also the bio stasis doesnt work on most of the units on endgame. So this makes 3 of her 5 skills "useless".

Infested Marine (although he is infested civilian)
Class Type: Tank
Primary Attribute: Stamina
Class Bonus: Receives extra 25 stamina every 5 levels.

Abilities:
Acid Blast - Single Target skill. Each level increases damage and reduces cooldown. Strenght increases damage.
Bio Stasis - Capture enemies making them immobile and dont let them attack. Does NOT affect bosses OR massive units. Each skill level increases the number of units captured and radius.
Swarm Fury - Makes you lifeleech with melee attacks and increases your max HP for short time. Each skill level increases lifeleech and HP. Also reduces cooldown.
Desintegrate - Small AoE skill. Each skill level increases damage and reduces cooldown. Strength increases damage.
Corruption - Single Target Debuff. Decreases moviment speed and armor for 10 seconds. Each skill level upgrade reduces armor and reduces cooldown.

Pros - This unit its awsome. Great damage and survavility.

Cons - Better DPS than Swarm Queen, although he is bad tank (no defensive skills). His ugliness should be a con too Razz

Ancient Aberration
Class Type: DPS
Primary Attribute: Strength
Class Bonus: Receives 25 extra strength every 5 levels.

Abilities:
Bio-Plasmid Discharge - Single Target Skill. Each skill level increases damage and reduces cooldown. Strength increases damage.
Acid Nova - AoE skill around hero. Damage and slow down enemies for 5 seconds. Each skill level increases damage and reduces cooldown. Strength increases damage.
DNA Cloak - Becomes invisible for short period of time. Each skill level increases cloak time for 1 seconds and reduces cooldown.
Bio Stasis - Capture enemies making them immobile and dont let them attack. Does NOT affect bosses OR massive units. Each skill level increases the number of units captured and radius.
Blood Rage - Increases melee damage of aberration. Each skill level increases damage. Aberration is immune to slow, stun and mind control for 15 seconds.

Pros - Good for PvP...

Cons - Too slow to actually make good DPS on bosses.

Dark Hybrid
Class Type: Healer
Primary Attribute: Intelect
Class Bonus: Receives extra 25 Intelect every 5 levels.

Abilities:
Phantom Blast - Single Target skill. Each skill level increases damage and reduces cooldown. Intelect increases damage.
Transfusion - Single Target skill. Heals one unit. Each skill level increases amount healed and reduces cooldown.
Dark Consumption - Single Target Skill. Leeches HP from one enemy and restores MP. NOTE: Uses HP to cast! Each skill level reduces cooldown.
Summon Shadow Lurker - Summons 2 lurkers for 30 seconds. They can detect invisible units. Each skill level increases damage of lurkers and reduces cooldown.
Mass Transfusion - AoE Skill. Heals targets in a small area. Each skill level increases healing amount and decreases cooldown.

Pros: Good healer with nice DPS. Very complete character.

Cons: Must be played by a good person. Newbies will get an hard time mastering it.

- Game Story

Game Intro:
After a large zerg invasion, many nuclear bombs were dropped in an attempt to cleanse the planet. The survivors of the war gathered togheter in an abandoned outpost to rebuild and establish law and order to the land. Hostile factions attack the outpost in hopes of eliminating the leader of the survival outpost, Captain Reznor. Your ship has been attacked by a rogue fleet and has crash landed near the outpost. After being treated at the outpost medical lab, you find yourself in the middle of a forgotten warzone.

If you wanna know full detailed story behind the game... play it and read them Very Happy here ill just give some resumed info.

*** ! WARNING SPOILER ALERT ! ***

The two diferent factions, PLUS the remaining zerg in the planet will attempt to eliminate the outpost camp. It is your duty to eliminate the waves assaulting the base AND kill the leader behind those forces, becoming the Hero of the outpost. In the end of the game, the Arena Master will ask to meet with you telling you have another missions (future maps related to Deadlands RPG) and you will travel there.

- Quest Line

NOTE: Before starting with the questing info, ill give a little tip that will help you memorizing which NPCs you should visit to do the quests.
- Start a new quest line its always on Captain Reznor (Marauder in the middle of the base)
- Terran Quests - always the marauder inside the Science Lab.
- Protoss Quests - always the High Templar inside the Protoss Temple.
- Zerg Quests - Always chances the spot. Once on Science Lab, then on Protoss temple, then Science Lab, etc.
Also all the rewards are from Hard mode. Meaning they might not match with the easier modes.

This being said lets start.

- Suggested Level 10 - (not that you can't complete it before but it helps on the boss fight making it easier)

Quest NPC: Captain Reznor.
Main Objective: Visit crash Site.
How to Complete: Just run trough the monsters to the ping spot. Once you arrive quest will be completed.
Rewards: There are some potions on the floor. They're your reward.

Quest NPC: Outpost Officer (Science Facility).
Main Objective: Find and Kill Hez the Ripper.
How to Complete: Like all the quests there will be a ping on the mini-map. Just go there and defeat your first boss: Hez the Ripper (big zergling).
Rewards: 500 minerals and 250 vespene.

Quest NPC: Outpost Templar (Protoss Temple).
Main Objective: Retrieve the Evolved Plant Sample.
How To Complete: Easy as pie. Just go to the ping location and touch the item. Done.
Rewards: 500 minerals and 250 vespene.

Quest NPC: Captain Reznor.
Main Objective: Defeat Rogue Leader Corvin.
How to Complete: Defend the base against the 3 wave of enemies. After go to the ping location and face one boss: Sergeant Corvin (Marine).
Rewards: 1500 minerals and 750 vespene.

Quest NPC: Outpost Officer (Science Facility).
Main Objective: Destroy Rogue Barracks.
How to Complete: Destroy the barracks at the ping location. NOTE: you will see the barracks there only after you accept the mission.
Rewards: 500 minerals and 250 vespene.

Quest NPC: Outpost Officer (Science Facility).
Main Objective: Find the Rogue Supplies.
How to Complete: The same way you did with the plant. Just go there and touch the item.
Rewards: 500 minerals and 250 vespene.

Quest NPC: Captain Reznor.
Main Objective: Defeat Rebel Captain Stormus.
How to Complete: Defend the base against the 3 waves of enemies. After that go to the ping location and defeat your first protoss boss: Captain Stormus (zealot)
Rewards: 1500 Minerals and 750 Vespene.

Quest NPC: Outpost Templar (Protoss Temple).
Main Objective: Destroy the Xel'naga Vault.
How to Complete: Travel to the ping location. Destroy the vault. Quest complete.
Rewards: 500 minerals and 250 vespene.

Quest NPC: Outpost Templar (Protoss Temple).
Main Objective: Destroy the Rebel Gateway.
How to Complete: Same way as previous quest. Except this one have some guards waiting for you. No biggie.
Rewards: 500 minerals 250 vespene.

- Suggested level 15+ -

Quest NPC: Captain Reznor.
Main Objective: Defeat Rogue Goliath Malachi.
How to Complete: Protect the base against 3 waves of enemies. After base is safe, go to the ping location to defeat the seconds terran boss: Goliath Malachi (goliath)
Rewards: 2000 minerals and 1000 vespene.

Quest NPC: Outpost Officer (Science Facility)
Main Objective: Destroy Rogue Sensor Tower.
How to Complete: Simple. Destroy the Rogue Sensor Tower at the ping location.
Rewards: 1000 minerals and 500 vespene.

Quest NPC: Captain Reznor.
Main Objective: Defeat Rebel Templar Zedethar.
How to Complete: Defend the base against the 3 enemy waves, and speed your pace to reach the seconds protoss boss: Templar Zedethar (Dark Templar NOT cloaked)
Rewards: 2000 minerals and 1000 vespene.

Quest NPC: Outpost Templar (Protoss Temple).
Main Objective: Question Elder Templar.
How to Complete: Just proceed to the ping location. Once you arrive you can leave and go to next quest.
Rewards: 1000 minerals and 500 vespene.

Quest NPC: Captain Reznor.
Main Objective: Defeat Khilatik the Furious
How to Complete: Get ready to face the 1st waves of the swarm! But wait... they're not regular zergs... they're primals! Still... defeat the 3 waves of enemies and proceed to the second zerg boss fight: Khilatik the Furious (Infested Civilian)
Rewards: 2000 minerals and 1000 vespene.

Quest NPC: Outpost Officer (Science Facility).
Main Objective: Find the Rogue Supplies.
How to Complete: i believe i dont have to repeat what to do right? just.... go get them.
Rewards: 1000 minerals and 500 vespene.

- Suggested Level: 22+ -

Quest NPC: Captain Reznor.
Main Objective: Defeat the Sentinel Mineral Golem.
How to Complete: Defend the... wait... there is no waves? cool, go kill the boss: Sentinel Mineral Golem (Stone Zealot).
Rewards: 2500 minerals 1250 vespene.

Quest NPC: Outpost Templar (Protoss Temple)
Main Objective: Destroy the Artifact Temple.
How to Complete: Ping location... Destroy the Temple... Get Reward. NOTE: temple does drop items! Press ALT to see their "HP bar" and pick them up.
Rewards: 1000 minerals and 500 vespene.

- Suggested level 25+ -

Quest NPC: Captain Reznor
Main Objective: Defeat the Rebel Instructor Worrgrim.
How to Complete: Make sure you kill every single enemie assaulting base! they're really strong, specially the colossus. After that proceed with caution to the boss place. Get ready to eliminate the last protoss boss: Instructor Worrgrim (Immortal).
Rewards: 3000 minerals 1500 vespene and Honor Tokens (Note: Easy rewards 1 token, Medium 2 tokens, Hard 3 tokens)

Quest NPC: Outpost Templar (Protoss Temple).
Main Objective: Retrieve the Ancient Relic.
How to Complete: Go to the top of the mountain (again) and colect it.
Rewards: 1500 minerals 750 vespene.

Quest NPC: Captain Reznor.
Main Objective: Defeat Rogue General Vexx.
How to Complete: Defend base againt the hard terran invasion. Afterwards go take that dumb General Vexx (Tank) down!
Rewards: 3000 minerals 1500 vespene and Honor Tokens (Note: Easy rewards 1 token, Medium 2 tokens, Hard 3 tokens)

Quest NPC: Outpost Officer (Science Facility)
Main Objective: Destroy the Rogue Fortress.
How to Compete: Make your way trough the metal destruction of Thors and Diamondbacks to reach the... very... protected fortress. Destroy it and colect the reward.
Rewards: 1500 minerals and 750 vespane.

- Suggested Level: 30(Max) -

Quest NPC: Captain Reznor.
Main Objective: Defeat the Brutalisk King Kilroxx (Final Mission)
How to Complete: Protoss the base against the super swarm invasion. After that process with caution to the final boss: King Kilroxx (Brutalisk).
Rewards: 3000 minerals 1500 vespene and Honor Tokens (Note: Easy rewards 1 token, Medium 2 tokens, Hard 3 tokens).

Congratz you beated the game. Proceed with talking with the remaining NPCs to finish the game.
